Design Your Own Coffee Mug
This project was really fun for me. I got this wonderful idea from a great blog called Holiday Crafts and Creations. She has some great holiday gift tutorials and easy to understand instructions. Designing this coffee mug was a great break in my creativity. I really put some thought into what I wanted the mug to look like and then searched so many images to find the exact one that I wanted. I learned a lot and had to tweak a few things just so it turned out the way I wanted it. It is not perfect but it is nice. I created it and I love that! You of course can use any design that you want and tailor you mug to your preference.
Let’s get to it!
Here is what you need:
- White mug
- Porcelain paint or permanent marker
- Paintbrush
- Masking tape (3/4″ and 2″ wide)
- Scissors
- Printed design of choice
Instructions:
Wash mug and dry. Place a piece of masking tape 1/2″ down from the rim and on the bottom of the cup. Tape around the bases of the handle so that the handle remains white. Be sure to press the tape down firmly so the paint or marker won’t go under the edge of the tape. Cut your pattern out and glue to mug. Be careful not to use too much because it will yellow once cup bakes (see photo below). Once design is adhered to mug, fill in the mug with color either with paint or marker. Let glue and marker dry. If you are using porcelain pain, let it dry completely for at 24 hours so that the paint sets. If using permanent marker, let dry for an hour. Place mug on a baking sheet and bake on 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Let cup cool before using.
Supplies needed to create your designed mug: markers or paint, masking tape, scissors, ceramic cup.
Choose the design for your cup.
Tape the rim, bottom and handle of the cup so that it remains white.
Adhere the design using glue. Try to not have access glue or it will turn yellow in the baking process.

I am a Southern California Girl to the heart! I love the sunny weather and the beaches and wearing flip flops most of the time.
I love to create--to make things with my hands. I use to be a busy worker bee with no time for anything. Fast, fast, fast was my life. I was given the awesome opportunity to be a stay at home wife (and hopefully soon to be mother). I didn't know what to do with myself so I starting cooking a lot, baking is my favorite (that's why you see a lot of baked goods), I started crafting again, and I started learning how to make things. I decided to start this blog to share with you--All the wonderful ways to be creative!
Angela is my name and making things homemade is what I love to do!
